A webcast is a media file distributed over the Internet using streaming technology. Essentially, webcasting is “broadcasting” over the Internet. Also called "transmission of linear audio or video content over the Internet". The Streaming media will take a single content source and distribute it to a multiple of viewers. We are currently building our new OS X Web Server. This dedicated server will only be for streaming, helping us to control the bandwidth. Using the RTP/RTSP open standard, our streaming server will let you deliver live or prerecorded content in real time over the Internet.
Our server will provide native support for streaming H.264, MPEG-4 and 3GPP files so your content will run on any standards-compliant media player on Mac and Windows as well as variety of standards-compliant devices such as mobile phones and set-top-boxes. Our new server will ensure that you'll reach the widest audience possible. Webcasts are very popular and allow us to broadcast your event in real time. They also may contain a variety of media's at the same time. The premiere technology for creating, playing and delivering digital media over the Internet has arrived.
